Hobart Town.

Prague: C.W. Medau, Ca. 1840s. An unusual image of Hobart printed in the 1840s in Prague. The street scene centers on H. Lewis & Sons' large building at the corner, with J. Low "Spiritoous" on the right. The street is full of people: mother, children & dog, peddler, a horse and cart, a grander carriage with horses & driver, a woman carrying a basket on her head, etc.

Title centered below ruled border with ornate corners. Variation of prints by E. Evans and Henry Winkles also in the collection of the State Library of Tasmania, described by C. Craig on p. 94 of "The engravers of Van Diemen's Land" and p. 14 of "More Old Tasmanian Prints".
