ALS, future Governor General New South Wales, making famine donation.

Bicester: Middleton Park, March 15, 1885. Autographed manuscript letter on Middleton Park letterhead, addressed to "Dear Colonel Watson", and signed, "Jersey", in which the Earl makes a donation to the London Famine League and accepts their offer to become an Honorary Member.

Jersey (1845-1915), served as Governor General of NSW from 1890-1893 and was a supporter of Federation. His mother was the eldest daughter of Prime Minister Sir Robert Peel.

Small 8vo, 1 pp, on mourning paper with black border. Two old creases. 8 3/4 x 7"; folds to 4 1/2 x 7". [With] two envelopes, one addressed to W. [Ewelt?] Esq of West Midland, the second a telegram envelope addressed to [Gill?], Herol Range. Very good condition. Item #25883
