New York: 1878. Beautifully engraved invitation card to a March 1878 grand opening of French millinery imported by the New York (58 West 14th St) and Brooklyn (261 Fulton St) firm, J. Rothschild.
The text advertises "Trimmed Paris Bonnets & Round Hats ... and French Millinery Goods".
With a very ornate engraved letterhead composed of interlocked initials JR surrounded by feathers and a banner. The text printed in a variety of elaborate type faces, with an illustration at the left side of a woman's hat suspended from the first letter of the text by an elegant ribbon and overflowing with garlands of flowers.
5 3/4 x 6 3/4". Period fold flattened. Very good condition. Item #26239
