New York: Milton Emerson & Co, Ca. 1853. Handsome steel engraving advertising the New Orleans perfumer and dealer in drugs and patent medicines, at 39 Chartres Street, printed in a variety of different type faces, within an ornate decorative border. A line of text boasts, "Family and Plantation Medicines carefully put up". These often toxic medicines were purchased by planters to be given by their overseers to slaves.

Printed on the verso is a Bartlett view entitled, "Yenikeuij on the Bosphorus". 10 1/2 x 8" Good + overall. Item #26281
