James Cantlie [1851 - 1926] was a Scottish physician, pioneer of first aid, and co-founder of the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese (at the Alice Memorial Hospital, from which Sun Yat Sen was one of the first graduates). He was also the co-founder of both the London School of Tropical Medicine and the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. Ownership stamp of George Brush, a US Naval captain from Long Island, who would personally have purchased this copy in China.
Small 8vo, 99pp. Publishers' pink papered covered boards, cloth spine. Marginal insect damage only to the cover paper with no loss to boards or text; endpapers browned with slight damp and paper rippling, but internally very bright and clean.
