London: G. Henderson, Old Bailey, 1832 / 1833. First edition. A handsome production for the entertainment and education of women, the 1st two years of publication. There is much about Fashion & Music, as each volume is decorated with a number of hand colored copper engravings of women in walking, home, evening & ball dresses, as well as sheet music. There are also serialized stories, travel, women's education (but not too much), and many hand colored steel engraved fashion plates.
Engraved title pages, wood engraved vignettes and b&w steel engravings throughout. Text in super condition, with some slight foxing on the music. Bound in the original full leather bindings, gilt titles and decoration, very worn but sturdy. OCLC: 1755432. Although lacking a few plates and a modicum of text, a thoroughly engaging little set of books, the first 4 published of a work that continued to be published until 1852. Item #26463
