It illustrates the British occupation of Egypt to protect the newly opened Suez Canal. This handsome view is looking north east from a balloon high above the Sphinx and Pyramids of Ghizeh, towards Cairo with the Nile front and center. The view includes the important sites of the Citadel, Old Cairo, Heliopolis, Bulak, Ismailia and the Suez Canal. 15 1/2 x 22" (39.37 x 55.88 cm), printed lithograph with block color, center fold.
