Scientific observations were made among various Atlantic Islands, the West Indies, the Cape of Good Hope, the Antarctic regions, Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea, the Moluccas, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Japan, Hawaii and other Pacific Islands, Chile and the Straits of Magellan.
