Large fold-out frontispiece panorama of West Point from Garrison, NY, "A facsimile of General Knox's inscription with lead pencil on the original drawing" by Major l'Enfant. The tinted lithograph is by J. Bien, famous for his printing of Audubon's birds. The handsome frontispiece is usually quite foxed, which is only mildly so in this fine copy. There are 9 plates, of which 2 are folding maps and one color plate; illustrations in text. Publishers blue gilt stamped cloth slightly rubbed at edges otherwise a very good copy.
