A panoramic view of Paris centered on the oval building of the International Exposition of 1867, held there from April 1st to November 3rd. After the resounding success of Britain's Great Exhibition of 1851 and the comparative failure of the 1862 London International Exhibition, Napoleon decided to surpass their ancient rival. The result was that seven million people came to see the Paris International Exhibition of 1867.
