A Short History of the Revival of the Small Torpedo Boat (C.M.Bs.) during the Great War.

London: Thorncroft, 1918. First printing. Pamphlet. Written immediately after the lifting of naval censorship, this booklet was designed to inform the public of the W.W.I British contribution of the Coastal Motor Boats (C.M.Bs) rather than the American submarine chasers.

Twelve 40 foot C.M.Bs were ordered by the Admiralty in January 1916; they were built and delivered by August. The most distinguished of these was CMB4 that took part in raids on
Ostend and Zeebrugge, including the famous Zeebrugge Raid of 23rd April, 1918. Also included is a list of officers and men who volunteered and served on the original twelve boats.

4to booklet, staplebound, 32pp printed b&w illustrations and diagrams on most pages. Covers dusty, front lower corner creased, staples rusty. Internally clean. Otherwise very good condition. Item #27417
