Hoving had a reputation of being a designer’s dream: “Design what you think is beautiful,” he instructed them, “and don’t worry about selling it. That’s our job.” One of Hoving's philanthropic endeavors was the creation of a home for drug and alcohol addicted women which is still operating in Garrison, NY.
