"Dear Shorty I am with you to the end Stop... You have been misinformed about me going with cops wont you please see me give warden your decision."

Purportedly a January 1931 telegraph from Helen Walsh to Francis Crowley asking permission to visit him in prison. The telegram is dated the day of Crowley's execution by electric chair. Crowley and his partner in crime Rudolph "Fats" Durringer along with Walsh were involved in several robberies and murders and eventually were cornered at West 91st St. in New York City and captured. The two men were quickly tried and executed, and Walsh was freed.

8 x 6.5" Western Union paper telegram, toned evenly, with a pencilled "No" at the bottom. Very good condition. Item #27744
