Pass-Room Bridewell.
London: R. Ackermann's Repository of Arts, 1808. Destitute women in a dormitory, possibly a birthing room for single mothers, at Bridewell Hospital. Bridewell Hospital was a prison for the homeless, criminals etc. This image is plate 12, taken from Ackermann's Microcosm of London (1808-11).
Aquatint, 11 x 9 1/8" on 14 1/2 x 11". One mark on outer edge of impression, otherwise very clean, bright colors. Very good condition. Item #27788
