Campaign of the Fourteenth Army, 1943-44 [and 1944-45].

Rawalpindi, India: Printing section R.P.E./ E in C's, GHQ, 1947. First edition. Hardcover. "The brief account of the operations of the Fourteenth Army during its first two years of existence includes no detail description of actual fighting or terrain. It is confined to the action and movements of major formations, and to the plans on which these were based. It is an attempt to give a clear picture of the campaign as a whole. It must, however, be remembered throughout the reading of what follows that the action took place over a front of 700 miles, from the Bay of Bengal to the Borders of China; that our men fought and flew over some of the worlds most difficult country, among jungle covered mountains, and for a large part of the time in the appalling climate of the monsoon; and that they fought a fanatical enemy unsurpassed in his insect like qualities of persistence and vicious ruthlessness."
