New York: Martin, Johnson & Company, 1857. Robert Walter Weir (June 18, 1803 – May 1, 1889) was an American artist and educator and is considered a painter of the Hudson River School. Weir was elected to the National Academy of Design in 1829 and was an instructor at the United States Military Academy. (Wikipedia). Steel engraving of the famous image of Hudson arriving with many Native Americans in the foreground. Paper size 8 1/4 X10 3/4", foxing in margins, slightly into the right edge of image.
