c. 1660. Engraving of Oliver Cromwell [1599 - 1658] the English statesman, politician, and soldier, widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the history of the British Isles. A middle-aged Cromwell wearing his armor with a stiff collar that varies from many portraits. He is facing his right, center parted hair, a mustache and goatee and a slight smile. A decorative scrolled border surrounds the image. There is faint offsetting of type, indicating this is from a book.
8 x 6 3/4" laid on heavy paper. Engraving in very good condition, trimmed to an outside rule line, printed on heavy paper, tipped onto a darker paper with a ruffled right edge. Item #28011
