Real photo postcard of Peak Hill, NSW pre 1916, possibly of Empire Day parade.

Niven Studio, n.d., ca. 1915. Ephemera. A real photo postcard blind stamped "Niven Studio" in Peak Hill, in the NSW gold district. A long parade of men and women, lead by a band, many of the men wearing uniforms and slouch hats. "Aunt Emily" writing to Mary on the verso states that she is in the picture, describing her clothes. She has her back to the camera and is mid- field on the right near the awnings on Main St. In May of 1916, Septimus Watt of "Cambridge Club Hotel" is in bankruptcy, which indicates this card predates 1916. The hotel was taken over by Norris, and sadly, on August 28th, 1919, the hotel burned down. Legge's Carrington Hotel was saved "after strenuous efforts by volunteers." (The Western Champion, September 4th, 1919 via Trove.). A bit faded, very good overall. Item #28228
