Illustrated stock certificate for the Peekskill Academy 1834.

[New York]: 1834. Ephemera. "This certifies that George O. Conklin is the owner of two Shares in the Peekskill Academy, he having paid to the Trustees thereof ten dollars, being the amount of said Shares at five dollars each." Signed by the trustees on May 1st, 1834, Wm. Nelson, Tyler Fountain and Frederic W. Lyon (?). George Conklin may be the namesake for Conklin Avenue in Cortlandt, just over the town line of Peekskill.

With an attractive woodcut of the school building at the head. The Peekskill Academy, later the Peekskill Military Academy for boys was founded in 1833 in Peekskill, NY and closed in 1968. Notable alumni include the children's writer L. Frank Baum. Good to very good. Toned, letter folds, short tears, modern tape repairs. Item #28277
