Originally called the Dutchess Print Works, the plant was the nation's first calico printing and dyeing works, founded in 1830. It continued as the Dutchess Bleachery, and became one of the biggest textile mills in the US. The brochure includes information on profit sharing and health benefits, the working conditions committee and workers' housing.
