Written on Townsend's return home to England, in response to the reported departure from the New South Wales colony of some 10,000 people in the previous two years. Townsend came to Sydney in 1842 and stayed until 1846. While in New South Wales, he visited many parts of the colony, including Ulladulla, llawarra and the Hunter River district. 8vo, vii + 312 pp, red cloth w/ gold printing on spine and impressed design on cover and spine.
