While the Billy Boils.
Sydney: Angus & Robertson, 1907. Hardcover. Henry Lawson (1867 - 1922) Australian short story writer and poet was an inspiration to many through his example of surmounting grinding difficulties. He resided in Mangamaunu for only six months. This volume includes his well respected short story 'The Drover's Wife'; after a harrowing trip through drought stricken New South Wales in 1892 he wrote 'The Bush Undertaker,' also included here. The pressure of sales and the production delays had evidently caused publisher Robertson to engage a new printer to cope with the demand (Paul Eggert, Biography of a Book: Henry Lawson's "While the Billy Boils"). 8vo, xiii + 333 pp and 32 pp of ads. B&w ills in text. Dark green cloth w/ gold stamping on spine. Extremely light wear at corners. Very good condition. Item #4541
