1890. Pamphlet. Letter from Lumholtz to Miss Upton, turning down an invitation and suggesting an alternate day, and requesting that she invite Miss Fletcher to meet him. Shoreham Hotel, 10 Feb. 1890. Lumholtz was a Norwegian discoverer & ethnographer, sent by the University of Christiania (now Univ. of Oslo) to do field research in North Queensland, resulting in the book "Amongst Cannibals". He later went on to do work on indigenous cultures of Mesoamerican central Mexico, working for the American Museum of Natural History. He was also a founding member of the Explorers Club in New York. ALS on 7 x 9" paper folded 4 1/2 x 7" with signature on inside page. With an attractive etched portrait 5 x 8", with a small blind stamp in one corner. Fold tender. Very good condition. Item #470
