London: Hamilton, Adams and Co., 1877. Tenth Thousand. Hardcover. This rare travel guide contains a rare and impressive fold-out panorama of Brisbane, a long colored chromolithographic (measuring 24 1/2" x 7" plus margins) entitled "Brisbane in 1872" created by Maclure & Macdonald. Some wonderful details on Yosemite, Salt Lake City, Union Pacific Railroad, and the Hudson River Line. Not only does this small publication list all illustrations, it lists maps and publishes an index to the advertisements, some of which have fine illustrations, for instance the White Star Line.

Sml. 8vo, frontispiece, x, 186pp, 30pp appendix, and xxxvii pp ads. Ads on endpapers. Interestingly, on the verso of the title page, is printed "Entered according to an Act of Congress, by E. Hepple Hall in the Office of the Librarian of Congress, at Washington, DC", while it has been printed in London and entered in Stationers' Hall. 40 ills including one folding, and 9 maps. Brisbane panorama has a small crack at one fold, and is loose. Later quarter navy calf, gilt title, raised bands & blue buckram boards.

OCLC: 17421085. Libraries Australia ID 22716259 cites the Melbourne edition published by Gordon and Gotch, with different pagination, and the author listed as E. Hepple Hall. Libraries Australia ID 27797513 cites the second edition, but does not mention whether there is this outstanding panorama of Brisbane. Rare. Very good condition. Item #7892
