Memorial of the Centennial Celebration of the Battle of Oriskany, August 6, 1877.

Utica, NY: Oneida Historical Society, 1878. 8vo, 199pp, Contents (i). Red brown stamped cloth covers with decorative black floral bands. Title in gilt on decorative spine. Spine is rubbed at top and base, and front hinge is starting, but intact. A newspaper portrait of General Nicholas Herkimer has been tipped inside front cover. Original owner's inscription, "B. B. Kenyon, Rome, NY, March 22nd, 1878." Internally, evenly toned. Ffep is separated approximately half way. The Battle of Oriskany was a bloody Revolutionary War battle fought near Fort Stanwix, which has the distinction of being one of the few battles of the war which did not involve British troops. Patriots in the American militias joined forces with the Oneidas to fight Loyalists reinforced by Native Americans of the other Iroquois nations. Good +. Item #11529
