Brown cloth covers, half red leather, with gilt rules, and gilt title on red spine. In a custom gray slipcase with dark brown edges; very good condition. Internally immaculate. Tooley states in the introduction, "known as the foremost mapmakers of their time, their fame was not confined to their native country of Holland, but reached into most of the cultured and leisured circles of Europe and even further, sumptuous examples of their atlases being sent as princely gifts to oriental potentates and ministers, as a symbol of the Republic of the United Netherlands."
