Includes an Account of the Moravian Missions, Mission Society of Africa, and Account of the Death of Voltaire, Otahiti article. Personal copy of Elihu Carpenter (1752-1827), teacher, deacon and Revolutionary War veteran, a descendant of one of the founding Carpenter family, which sailed from England on the 'Bevis' in 1638. A further annotation at the front end paper, "C. C. Carpenter, Found in Labrador, 1864".

Volume needs re-binding. Internally in good condition. Covers are perished leather, detached. Internally, owner's signatures, "Elihu Carpenter, Rehoboth, Dec 24th, 1803". Approximately 40pp per month, published in this order: August through December, then January through July; December includes a 2pp index for vol. 4.
