Dunk (b1855), celebrated Philadelphia painter and illustrator is the illustrator of this handsome work, with 6 full-page color illustrations and b&w illustrations in the text including one of a kangaroo with her joeys being menaced by a man on horseback with a raised whip, for which the original artwork is present, a large dramatic pen and ink sketch. In the distance across the wheat field two other riders and a dog race toward the kangaroo. 17 3/4 x 14" .
