London: F. P. Nodder & Co., 1790. Engraving from The Naturalist's Miscellany by George Shaw. The Naturalist's Miscellany consists of twenty-two volumes published between 1789 - 1813, and illustrated by Frederick Polydore Nodder. Nodder also worked on Joseph Banks "Banks' Florilegium". George Shaw was a co-founder of the Linnean Society and became keeper of the natural history collection at the British Museum.

The Magnificent Cockatoo is shown with characteristic red horizontal tail stripes. The engraving measures 5" x 8" on 5 1/2" x 9 1/8" paper and is accompanied by the two sided text page, with the names Even-Tailed Black Parrot and the Banksian Cockatoo, and a four paragraph description. This is a highly striking copy dated 1790 on Whatman paper. Not recorded on Trove. Fine. Item #13411
