Paris: J. Grasset, Ca. 1796. Hand colored aquatint engraving of a female Maori, from Grasset de Saint-Sauveur's 'Encyclopedie Des Voyages'. The woman is fancifully attired in imaginary native garb, a yellow and blue feather headdress, three necklaces and striped skirt-like garment, holding a rose! She is standing on a grassy ground with no background. 4 3/4 in. x 7 1/4" image on 7 3/4 in. x 10 1/2" sheet. Trove 57357026 locates a copy at the National Library. Very good condition. Item #13583
