Shanghai: Max Noessler & Co., 1939. Dated Dec. 1, 1939, this map is of interest for its' portrayal of Germany in the period preceding WWII, and the Middle East, intended for Chinese consumption. Austria, Poland, Czechoslovakia have all been subsumed by Germany. Slovakia & Luxembourg are shown with their own borders, but under German influence, as all these areas are colored yellow. The Middle East bordering the Mediterranean lists Syria (no Lebanon), Palestine and Transjordan. 70 x 42 cm, printed color. Approx. scale 3 cm = 200 km, many cities shown, along with "possession" (Rhodes is attributed to Italy; "Cyprus to Britain, etc). Slt. creasing in bottom margin o/w vgc. Item #14176
