This record was published as the expedition was getting under way; much of it concerns provisioning for the expeditionary trip to the South Seas and Antarctica. It includes all correspondence relating to the preparations of the voyage sent to the President from June 1836 till February 1838 6 months before the expedition sailed. The United States Exploring Expedition became known as the Wilkes Expedition. Otherwise very good condition. Item #14233
