Studio Portrait of Naval Officers.
Hong Kong: c. 1890. A studio portrait by the Chinese photographer, artist & portrait painter Hung Cheong, noted for his large format hand colored albumen prints, who operated a studio in Yokohama (1875-1885), and then in Hong Kong. Photographer imprint at base of card reads Hung Cheong, No. 2 & 4 D'Aquila Street, Hong (Kong)'. (The card is slt chipped at lower right corner so that "Kong" is clipped). A studio portrait of three naval officers, full length, with white caps, dark blazers, and white trousers. One period hand-written inscription in pencil on the verso, "From J. Barnetson". 4 x 5 1/2" photograph on 4 1/4 x 6 1/2" card. Crack on upper right, and chipping at lower card edge, o/w vgc. Item #15193
