Report of three bank examiners, Nelson Brewster, Henry Taintor and Starr Ferry, who were required "to visit the several Banks in the state once in each year… and inquire whether they have been, and are managed and conducted according to law…. They have required the cashier of each Bank to answer certain interrogatories showing the condition of the Bank of which they have charge at three different times, viz. the first of October, January and April." The men go through each state law and make general comments about compliance and then list the liabilities, resources and loans and discounts of Hartford Bank, Farmers and Mechanics Bank, Connecticut River Banking Company, New Haven County Bank, City Bank, Mechanics Bank, Exchange Bank, New Haven Bank and many other city and county banks in the state.
