Chicago: Geo. F. Cram, 1887. Large engraved color folding map showing finished and unfinished railroads in New York, with two insets showing New York City and vicinity and Long Island. 23 1/2 x 18". Showing railroads as far north as the region above Lake Ontario and the Great Westin Railroad. Railroads within New York state are stamped in red with "AM", "NA", "US", "NAT", "D. L. & W." or "L. I.". County borders highlighted in yellow. With a 58pp Index, lacking three leaves of 9 of testimonials following the Index. The Index begins with a list of 68 Railroads, followed by the "old name" of the railroad and the "new name"; a list of the counties and their populations; and list of towns which includes Cold Spring, which is listed as having a telegraph station, a Money Order Post Office and a population of 2,111. Garrison's is also listed, with a telegraph station and a population of 127. Gray green cloth wrappers on stiff paper, with blue paper label laid down at front cover, slightly rubbed, label slightly marked. Very good condition. Item #18682
