This South Aus. expedition was sent primarily to search for Burke & Wills but in so doing was able to make a number of side excursions, discovering much grazing & pastoral land. The planned rendez-vous with a support vessel at the Gulf of Carpentaria failed, and the expedition had to battle on to Port Denison. A nice later bound copy of the Aus. account of McKinlay's expedition. 8vo, nd (1861). 8vo, 136pp, 3 large fold. maps. Late 19th c. plain cloth binding w/ pocket for the maps, gold gilt on spine, text lightly browned & a little spotted o/w g+ cond. There are some cracks & failures at some folds in some of the maps.
