Hartford, CT: Hartford Printing Co., 1886. Trade card for a leading Hartford printer located at 16 State Street, with elaborate initial caps and decorative border, and with a calendar on the verso. Elihu Geer opened his printing office in 1838, and in 1841 bought the rights to the City Directory; Geer's published it every year from 1842 to 1928, providing an invaluable resource for researching Hartford's history. This card advertises the 49th issue of the Directory, to be issued July 1886. Printed on card stock. 3 1/2 x 2 1/2" Very good condition. Item #20864
