A Sketch of the History and Topography of West Point and the U.S. Military Academy.
Philadelphia: Henry Perkins, 1840. Hardcover. A charming book focusing on the geographical description of the landscape for West Point as a military garrison, a historical description of its prominence and importance during the Revolutionary War, and the establishment of the US Military Academy, its teachers and rules governing the cadets. Slim small 8vo, brown moire cloth boards, 140pp, spine sunned, corners bumped, scattered fox spotting throughout not affecting text. Neat previous owner name at front free end paper.
We locate only one record of a copy with the folding map at page 9, (a Hathi trust digital copy showing the map) which is not present in this copy. It has clearly not been removed from this copy, so it seems likely that some copies were issued with the map, and many without. OCLC: 824482968. Very good overall. Item #20985
