This advertisement requests bidders by November 10, 1880, for the delivery of granite for the Stonington Harbor breakwater. Stonington was originally Pequot land when a trading house was established in 1649. The town prospered in the 1790s as a sealing port and was incorporated in 1807. Printed on beige paper, 8 1/2 x 14", front describes specifications of the breakwater and expectations for potential bidders, verso describes 'General Information for Bidders'.
