Boston: Ca. 1910. Real photos of one of the leading American makers of greeting cards, puzzles, books, postcards and bookplates, including one of Don Rust (1913) working at his desk, and identified on the verso by the following annotation: "60 India Street, First Rust Craft in Boston". The Rust Craft Shop was in the Dean Building, and was noted for making the finest holiday cards & novelties; the firm was the first to offer Bon Voyage and Graduation Greeting cards.

The Rust Craft Greeting Card Company was founded in 1906 as a bookshop by Fred Rust (1877-1949) in Kansas City, Missouri. The business moved to Boston around 1910. It merged with the Ernest Dudley Chase Co. in 1921, then went international and operated into the 1960s.

Nine images in total, 5 real photos, 4 photo postcards with divided backs, not posted. Views are of the interior of the shop; "1st Factory K. C" and shows the brick factory facade in Kansas City. The portrait of Don Rust 4 1/4 x 3 1/4"; the others roughly 5 1/4 x 3 1/2" Very good condition. Item #21660
