Vue de la Riviere des Francais, au port du Roi Georges a 4 milles de son embouchure (Nelle. Holland.).

Paris: 1833. First edition. Lithograph view of Albany harbor in the south west of Western Australia. Plate 14, from the official report of the voyage, "Voyage de la Corvette L'Astrolabe..." under the command of Jules Dumont D'Urville. A pair of men stand onshore of the river with their boat, one wearing a blue coat, one tan. Black swans are seen in the distance. The Astrolabe stayed in the Albany area for 18 days, assessing the Sound's suitability as a port and thought it would be a good place to establish a colony, and Dumont D'Urville was surprised that the British had not already done so. Printed on laid paper with wide margins. 11 5/8 x 9 3/8" including rule lines and captions. Later tasteful hand color. With the blind stamp of the expedition in the lower margin. Very good condition.
