Item #22811 World War II Japanese propaganda leaflet, "Killed in Action. Died that the jungles of New Guinea might again rest in peace"

World War II Japanese propaganda leaflet, "Killed in Action. Died that the jungles of New Guinea might again rest in peace"

Japan: Ca. 1942. Graphic full color leaflet dropped by the Japanese on allied troops in New Guinea and surrounding islands. The illustration drives home the point that the defense of New Guinea is not worth dying for. It depicts the skeletal remains of an Australian soldier chained to the island, a citation from US General Douglas MacArthur jammed into his hands. Below the island the headline printed in black.

5 x 7", a bit rough around the edges, as you would expect from a propaganda piece picked up in a war zone! A leaflet we have not seen before. Very good condition. Item #22811
