Original b/w photograph of a skier in the southern portion of the New Zealand Alps.
Black & white, 7 ¾” x 9 3/8”, The back side of the photo bears two ink stamps of the Australian National Travel Association (one of which has been crossed out) and a pasted down paper label that originally read, “Ski-ing on the roof of Australia. The southern portion of the Australian Alps is snowcapped for several months each year, providing excellent grounds for snow sports.” However, Australia has been crossed out in pencil and “N.Z.” written in. Looks like a promotional photo that was to be published in a travel brochure that had the wrong location in the original title. Artistic skiing photo, probably dating from the late 1940s or early 1950s. Item #23462
