Thaddeus Davids, Manufacturer of American Stationery, Established 1825. Handbill.

New York: Ca. 1840. Handbill printed with text in a variety of type fonts, for the New York City ink maker, one of the largest ink makers in the world. Featuring steel engraved illustrations of the medals and awards won by the firm for their "writing fluid inks" among other items, from the American Institute of New York and from the Mechanics Institute.

Thaddeus Davids (1810 - 1894) introduced his steel pen ink to New York in 1827. By 1833 Davids was calling his ink "chemical writing fluid"; it was considered to be of very high quality, the least likely of contemporary inks to fade and was used on trade cards at the 1876 centennial.
