London: 1742. Third edition, with additions. Hardcover. Includes the trial of Major Stede Bonnet, British/Barbadian pirate and sometime colleague of the pirate Blackbeard, at the Court of Vice Admiralty, Charles Town South Carolina, October 30, 1718 (pp156 -188).

Stede Bonnet (1688 – 1718) turned to piracy at mid life; after reaching the rank of major in the Barbados militia, and running a sugar plantation there he inexplicably decided to take up piracy in spite of an almost complete lack of knowledge of sailing and the sea. He reluctantly worked with Blackbeard plundering ships along America's eastern sea coast and in the Caribbean, and was later captured near Cape Fear, South Carolina.
