Limited edition. Magnificent lithograph of leaping and twisting marlin in a burst of spray, signed at the lower right, W. Goadby Lawrence, by one of the leading American marine artists of the 20th century. This is a limited edition, number 65 of 125.

William Goadby Lawrence(1913 - 2002) famed American marine artist, attended the Art Students League in New York and had his first show in his early 20s in New York City. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard in World War II as a combat artist.

Lawrence worked as an illustrator for magazines such as Field and Stream and The Saturday Evening Post. His work is in the permanent collections of the Library of Congress, the National Museum of Natural History, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Museum.

Pencil presentation inscription by the artist below the image, "Best wishes to Ellie and Alan". Mounted in an acid free tan mat and black wood frame. Measures 12 x 9"; the frame 19 x 14". Light brown spots barely visible at the left margin of the print. Very good condition. Item #24000
