Glasgow, Scotland: 1866. Broadsheet featuring a play performed at the Theatre Royal, Glasgow, with the second act set in Australia, in Bendigo country and the gold diggings of 1862. Performed 15th June 1866, the play was by David Fisher, based on the novel of the same name by John Cordy Jeaffreson.

Act II Scene I is titled "The Store"; Scene 2, "The Gold Diggers' Hut"; Scene 3, "Another Part of the Diggings"; and Scene 4, "The Start for Melbourne". The cast of characters for the second Act includes: Mrs. Barney O'Toole, played by Miss H. Osborne; Sidney Phillips & Jasper Jones, played by Mr. D. Fisher; Ebenezer Sneezer (American Storekeeper) played by Mr. Lloyd; Andrew MacLachlan, played by Mr. William Dobson; Jonas Bull, played by Mr. Henry Farrell; Barney O'Toole, played by Mr. T. Watson; and First and Second Diggers, played by Messrs Cooke and Cromwell.

Original fold flattened, trimmed close at lower left margin, with minor loss to left edges only of first letter of words in text. 10 x 30". Trove 6138117, records a copy of the broadside with a performance date of Wednesday June 13, 1866 at the NLA. Very good overall. Item #24022
