A Villa on the Hudson, a young woman's superb pencil drawing of the image after Currier & Ives, with the C & I print.

New York: 1869 & 1875. A talented amateur's pencil drawn copy of the Currier and Ives print of the same name, originally published in 1869. The view is of a Hudson River villa likely to be in the Hudson Highlands, as the opposite bank is visible the background, consistent to the narrowness of the Hudson River at that point. In this rural landscape, a quiet road descends towards the Hudson River, with a sailing ship seen on the water. At the right there is a wooden two-story house, and a woman and three children walking along a path.

The artist signs her name as Anna Harmony and dates the portrait June 24, 1875. Even the title below the image is done in calligraphy. The peaceful view and park like atmosphere of the grounds down to the children on the pathway are admirably replicated. Image is 12.5 x 17" mounted in a brown wood frame (23.5 x 17") with inner gilt decoration and glass.
