c. 1880. Photograph of an impressive colonial home in Fiji on one side. A birdhouse sits in a large tree in the foreground, with carvings in the bark. Women and men sitting on the ground near wagons and some standing on the large wraparound porch. On the verso is a view of Tahiti, with mountains in the background, palms and shrubs in the foreground with a young family. Possible initials in the lower right corner of Fiji image "HP" or "dH".

Images (Fiji 9 1/2 x 7 1/2"; Tahiti 9 1/8 x 7") are laid down on stock (11 5/8 x 9 1/4"). Stock is toned, Tahiti image has 3 small chips at bottom not affecting image. Images are very clear. Very good condition. Item #25082
