The botanical section of this 39 volume work on Madagascar is by Henri Baillon. Henri Ernest Baillon (1827 - 1895) was a French botanist and physician. Baillon was one of only 8 botanists to publish research on the Croton (Euphorbiaceae) species, of which one third of the known species grow in Madagascar.
